Emergency Response

The 9-1-1 Administration Office works in conjunction with, Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP') and all emergency service providers, such as fire departments, emergency medical personnel and law enforcement agencies.

There is (1) primary PSAP, one (1) secondary PSAP in Ashley County. These 9-1-1 dispatch centers receive all 9-1-1 calls in Ashley County and dispatch emergency personnel to the situation.  
    
There are twelve (12) Fire Departments in Ashley County, rural and cities. There are two (2) police
departments, one (1) sheriff's office, two (2) EMS agencies, and (2) rescue units.

911 Administration Office

It is the responsibility of the 9-1-1 Administration office to make sure the 9-1-1 call is received, with the correct addressing and ESN (Emergency Service Number).
The ESN tell the dispatcher what emergency personnel should respond to the call.

Example:

If we called 911 from our office, the following information would be received at the primary PSAP  dispatch center, which is at the Ashley County Sheriff Office.
